A Life Changed

Over 50 people gathered on the street corner to witness our first baptism at The Garden.

When Islah came to Soup@6, our weekly community meal, she was searching for something. The Garden Mission welcomed her with friendship, dignity, and a seat at the table.

Through talking with Garden volunteers, Celebrate Recovery, and the love of her new community, including a deep friendship with Erin Yingling who walked beside her as a mentor, she found healing—and ultimately, Jesus.

Last month, right on the corner outside our building, she was baptized by Pastor Randy.

If you’ve ever prayed, given, volunteered, or shared a meal with us, you were part of this story.

This is our story of God’s power.
This is kingdom work.

Read Islah’s testimony…

Hi, my name is Islah, also known as Chyna.  I was born and raised Muslim. I have never felt a connection to Islam, although my siblings and parents did. I have always known that GOD exists.

A few years ago, I began to ask who is GOD? I also asked God to reveal himself to me. I asked GOD to show me who he is, and who I am.

I met some amazing people about a year ago, and I was introduced to JESUS.

I have been on an amazing journey the past few months. Those questions that I had asked GOD, were being answered. GOD revealed to me who he is, and also who I am. God began to show me through my relationships who he is, and also who I am.

Before surrendering my life to GOD, I was chaotic, even socializing with people who should have NEVER been in my company. I have made a lot of bad decisions.

Today, I am gifting GOD with my life.

This baptism is me gifting myself to GOD, and in return being gifted with his unconditional love and favor.

I surrender.
